How do they usually ride?
Do they settle straight away, watch the window or prefer a covered carrier? Do they cry, pant or pace? Have they been unwell on longer drives? There are no wrong answers. Honest details help us plan a ride that suits them.
Cats are different
Most cats ride best in their own carrier with a familiar blanket. Tell us how they react to being picked up, whether they like the carrier covered and whether they’re easier to handle in a towel. Cats always stay in their carrier for the whole ride and are handed over still inside it.
Dogs come in every size
Tell us their size, whether they ride best in a crate or clipped in with a harness, and how they handle being lifted. Big dogs who can’t jump in easily, small dogs who like to be lifted, older dogs with stiff legs: we plan around all of them.
Small things that help
A favorite toy, a quiet voice, a few minutes to sniff before getting in, the radio off. We add these to their travel notes, so every ride starts the same way and the person at the other end knows what helps too.
When to ask your vet
If your pet has been unwell in the car, is on medication or has a health condition, ask your vet for advice before the ride and tell us what they say. We’ll plan around their recommendation.
Your next conversation
Tell us where your pet is going, who will meet them at each end and the date you have in mind, or call us on (202) 555-0109. We’ll plan the ride with you.
